Agnico Eagle would like to update the community of Rankin Inlet on the sampling results of the TSS exceedance.

Shortly after resuming the discharge to on September 16th, the water analysis showed a TSS level for the discharge of September 16th had exceeded the regulatory limit. The discharge to sea was stopped immediately and the TSS exceedance was reported to the authorities.

The investigation showed that a procedural error occurred in the cleaning procedure of water truck from the last exceedance reported on August 31st. All the trucks that are used to transport the water to Itivia have been thoroughly inspected and cleaned out when necessary. The water quality is being tested daily from the treatment plant and remains in full compliance with regulations.

We are still confident that the overall steps undertaken in understanding and correcting the exceedance are effective and under control. The mitigation measures that were implemented such as daily testing allowed us to identify the exceedance quickly and stopped the discharge.

Agnico Eagle is committed to maintaining very close monitoring in Melvin Bay for the whole duration of the discharge.
