Located 50 kilometres northwest of Agnico Eagle’s Meadowbank mine.

In April 2013, Agnico Eagle acquired 100% interest in the Amaruq gold exploration project in the Kivalliq District of Nunavut. Extensive exploration drilling on the property as well as geophysics, geochemistry and field work have resulted in an updated mineral resource estimate being developed within approximately 36 months from the initial start of exploration drilling.

The Amaruq project was approved for development on February 16, 2017The Company approved the development of the Amaruq property as a satellite deposit to supply ore to the existing Meadowbank mill. The expected start of operations at Amaruq is currently scheduled for Q3 2019 with ore from the Amaruq site being hauled to the Meadowbank processing plant via 50 km.

Collectively the various facilities and infrastructure across both the Amaruq and Meadowbank sites will now be referred to as the Meadowbank Complex.
