Generations Rising Indigenous Scholarship & Mentorship Program

Supporting the Next Generation of Indigenous Leaders

Post-secondary education can open the door to countless opportunities. Through the Generations Rising Indigenous Scholarship & Mentorship Program, Agnico Eagle is helping Indigenous students pursue their educational goals while preparing for future careers and leadership opportunities.

The program provides more than financial assistance. Participants receive mentorship, career guidance and access to a network of professionals who can help them navigate academic and career decisions with confidence.

Program Benefits

  • Up to $10,000 CAD annually

  • Funding available for up to four years

Community Training Programs 

Bringing Training Opportunities Closer to Home.

Agnico Eagle partners with training providers, educational institutions and community organizations to create practical training opportunities that help Inuit develop new skills and prepare for employment. These programs combine classroom instruction, hands-on learning and workplace experience to provide participants with valuable qualifications and real-world knowledge. 

Turn Your Passion for Food into a Career

The Camp Cook Training Program was developed to prepare participants for employment in remote mine camps and commercial food service environments. Delivered in partnership with Nunavut Arctic College, this 15-week program combines classroom learning, practical kitchen training and a mine-site internship experience.

Participants learn food preparation techniques, food and workplace safety standards, and the skills required to work efficiently in a professional kitchen environment. The program also emphasizes teamwork, communication, problem-solving and workplace readiness.

  • Mine camp internship experience

  • Food Handler Certification

  • Nunavut Arctic College Certificate

Career Opportunities

Graduates may qualify for entry-level cooking positions at mine sites and can pursue opportunities in hospitality, catering, institutional food services and restaurant operations.

Drive Your Career Forward

The Class 1 Driver Training Program is designed to help participants obtain the skills and certification required to operate heavy vehicles safely and professionally.

The program combines theoretical instruction and hands-on driving experience, allowing participants to build confidence while learning industry standards and safety requirements.

Program Includes

  • Recruitment and candidate assessment

  • Industry immersion experience

  • Classroom learning

  • Practical driver training

  • Certification testing

  • Paid probation period upon successful completion

Career Opportunities

Graduates may be considered for employment opportunities in transportation and mining operations, with potential pathways toward specialized driving positions and long-term career growth.

Develop Skills That Support People and the Environment

Water treatment is a critical part of responsible mining operations and environmental stewardship. This innovative training initiative was created to help Inuit workers develop specialized skills that are increasingly in demand across the mining industry.

Developed in collaboration with PEL 1823 and CFP Val-d’Or, the program combines online learning with practical on-site experience at Agnico Eagle operations.

Program Includes

  • Approximately 32 hours of e-learning

  • 18 structured training modules

  • Practical field training at mine sites

  • Supervision by experienced operators

  • Official certification from CFP Val-d’Or

Career Opportunities

Successful participants may qualify for water treatment positions at mine sites and develop skills that are also transferable to municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities in northern communities.

Career Path Program 

Supporting Long-Term Career Growth 

The Career Path Program helps Inuit employees understand the training, experience and competencies needed to progress within the organization. 

The program supports internal advancement by providing structured pathways that guide employees from entry-level positions to increasingly skilled and specialized roles. The objective is to create meaningful opportunities for Inuit employees to grow their careers within Agnico Eagle. 

Earn While You Learn

The Apprenticeship Program allows Inuit employees to develop valuable trade certifications while gaining practical experience in the workplace.

Apprentices combine technical instruction with on-the-job learning, helping them build the knowledge and experience required to become certified tradespeople.

Helping Inuit Employees Reach Their Full Potential

The RISE (Rapid Inuit Specific Education) Program was created to support Inuit employees at every stage of their professional journey. Whether an employee is building foundational workplace skills, pursuing a trade certification or preparing for leadership responsibilities, RISE provides targeted support and development opportunities.

The program focuses on three key areas:

1. Workplace Essential Skills

This stream helps employees strengthen the skills that contribute to long-term workplace success. Topics may include communication, financial literacy, teamwork, professionalism, stress management and work-life balance.

2. Apprenticeship Support

RISE provides additional support to Inuit apprentices as they complete technical training and work toward certification. Participants benefit from guidance, resources and partnerships designed to help them succeed both academically and professionally.

3. Leadership Development

This stream helps current and future Inuit leaders build the skills needed to take on supervisory and management responsibilities. Participants receive coaching and development opportunities focused on leadership, decision-making and workplace effectiveness.
