Supporting Student Success Through Food Security

This World Food Day (October 16), Agnico Eagle and Breakfast Club of Canada are celebrating the impact of their partnership in Nunavut, which now supports school breakfast programs in every school across the Kivalliq and Kitikmeot regions. A renewed five-year, $5-million commitment will help sustain access to nutritious breakfasts while supporting long-term, Nunavut-led approaches to school food programming.

Watch the video to hear how schools, communities and partners are working together to support student well-being and food security across Nunavut.

The Story Behind More Than a Meal

More Than a Meal is a storybook inspired by real stories shared by Nunavummiut, celebrating the deep connections between food, family, culture and community. Through stories of harvesting, preparing and sharing country food, readers are invited to explore the traditions, knowledge and values passed from one generation to the next. Featuring artwork by Nunavut illustrators Kayla Williams and Saelym Degrandpre, the book offers a meaningful glimpse into the people, places and traditions that help shape life across Nunavut.
